The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, on Thursday broke down at the burial of a supporter of the celebration in Enugu.
The deceased, Christopher Nworie, was killed when suspected political thugs launched an assault during the NDC governorship campaign flag-off in Enugu.
Speaking at the burial, Obi described the demise as painful and avoidable.
“One day, we are going to all find yourself six ft underground. His demise is painful. I used to be alleged to return tomorrow, however as a result of of this burial, I instantly modified my ticket and returned to Nigeria from the UK final evening.
“We can’t proceed like this. Someone died as a result of of an election. Why not campaign primarily based on points? You can’t see me campaigning by insulting one other celebration. I campaign primarily based on points that concern the folks,” Obi stated.
